I have eaten in many Japanese restaurants in Bangkok over the years but am still impressed every time I visit Genji. It is a simple and yet elegant at the same time, a quiet and serene atmosphere. The large dining room presents a formal atmosphere than a few Japanese restaurants, sushi bar seating and tables, Teppanyaki Grill, Sushi Bar, with its separated and two teppanyaki rooms. There are also a number of traditional private tatami rooms with seating setups.
There is a large menu that both elements as well as ala carte lunch and dinner and a special all-you-can-eat lunch buffet that is very popular. On my last visit here for lunch, I have several articles, which are new for me, the most important, a soft-shell crab tempura. I have many kinds of tempura over the years, but this was the first time, I have soft-shell crab, and it was a welcome addition. Soft-shell crab should be cooked with a very high heat, get the right amount of scarcity and the chef here is perfect. I’ve also enjoyed some salmon and scallops from the teppanyaki grill, miso soup and a California sushi roll set.
I would have ordered one of the lunch, a variety of Japanese cuisine styles, including grilled fish, teppanyak, Sukiyaki, Tempura and other along with the traditional Japanese bento box lunch, which is also on the menu. And the prices of these stamps are all quite reasonable.
At dinner, there are menus with different specialties such as yakizakana YAKINIKU and articles as well as Teppanyaki Kobe beef. There are also a wide choice of ala carte items, covering all styles of cuisine already mentioned. Basically, Genji is on nearly every taste in terms of Japanese food.
And although there are many opportunities in Bangkok, if you’re thinking about good Japanese cuisine, Genji offers an attractive place to enjoy quality food in an authentic environment with very good price-performance ratio.
