A couple of years ago I had one of the best h0olidays of my life. My girlfriend and I wanted to get away for a couple of days in the spring, and we wanted something a bit different from the usual beach holiday. Neither of us were exactly rolling in money so we needed to keep things fairly cheap.
After much searching around on the internet we came across some cheap flights to Amsterdam. I had never considered going to Amsterdam before, but after doing a bit of research into the place we thought that it looked really interesting and a lot of fun. We decided to buy some flights and find some accommodation when we got there since we didn’t know which areas were nice.
Once we got there it seemed as though all of the areas were nice! The place was really well looked after, and despite all of the stories I had heard about the place, it was actually really civilised. We had a little trip to one of the coffee shops on our second day there, and I have to say that it was totally different from what I expected. I thought we would be arriving in some sort of Drug den, but in actual fact we found a nice relaxed atmosphere, much like any coffee shop you would find in England!
We had a great weekend over in Amsterdam and it has done nothing but whet our appetite. We plan to head back there next year for a full week to really discover this great city.
